Adams’ Grammar School

Adams’ Grammar School, or AGS, educated Statto and JTA for seven years of their lives. It is a single-sex (boys) grammar school, until the VIth form when it becomes a mixed-sex grammar school with the introduction of a few token girls.

The main contribution to Statto & JTA’s eccentricity made by AGS was in the form of The William Adams’ Arts & Debating Society, run by Mr Banks.

However, one mustn’t forget the contribution made by the physics and maths and English departments. The former two are probably also able to be held accountable for the Further Maths Posse, as the maths-further maths-physics-chemistry people nerdily called themselves.

History

Adams’ is a Haberdashers’ school, and was founded in 1656 by one of their Worshipful Company, William Adams, which, together with its being a grammar school, explains the name.

In 1996, Statto & JTA were admitted.

Statto & JTA left in 2003. To celebrate their leaving, AGS opened a brand-new sports hall and upgraded the Old Gym into a performing arts centre.
