Chemistry
Chemistry is a small and very specific part of physics, describing as it does a only a limited part of electrodynamics. Chemists know they will never form a Grand Unified Theory, or cure genetic diseases, but if they are lucky, they might be able to perhaps find a new element which has no useful properties and exists for a shorter time than it takes for someone else to take the credit.Chemists are happy to live the lie though, and are grateful that they get to mix colourful liquids all day, instead of spending their time calculating Rydberg’s constant using a grating monochromator like some people.
Some chemistry veers on the edge of pseudoscience, such as biochemistry, while other parts have actual value, such as quantum chemistry.
