Statto

Andrew “Statto” Steele, or Statto for short, is the half of The Statto-JTA Publishing Corporation whose name begins with ‘S’. He is currently studying for a physics degree at Christ Church, University of Oxford.

He is one of the reasons behind the S of the S series of parties.

Biography

Statto was born as Andrew James Steele in Sussex in 1985. His sister Katie followed shortly afterwards, in 1987, resulting in his spending most of his early years hitting her about the head with saucepan lids.

In 1989, he moved to Telford, where he attended Randlay County Primary School.

After passing his 11+, he followed on with a seven-year stint at Adams’ Grammar School. His parents moved to Aylesland House shortly before he started.

He met JTA in Year 8, did SATs in Year 9, GCSEs in Year 11, A-levels in the VIth form.

He followed this up by going to Christ Church.

Employment

He has been employed at Barlow Nurseries and Green Fields.

Nickname

In the dark days of Year Seven, there was a television programme on late at night on Channel 4 known as “Fantasy Football” on which a chap called Statto recited statistics of various sorts. Being something of a nerd (though slightly more inclined towards physical constants than league results), a chap called Rob Keeling christened him one maths lesson, perhaps with the help of Dr Ehlers, the teacher at that time.

The nickname proceeded to stick.

Heraldry

999

The snake symbol was created from a cartoon in a history textbook which depicted the Roman god Mars, possibly representing Nazi Germany or Mussolini’s Italy, delivering a note to the League of Nations. On the god’s shield, this snake appeared, but rotated slightly and reversed. Thus, it was rotated slightly and reversed, and created the Statto symbol observed today.
